Service
Services at Lake Elementary

For gifted service in math, students are clustered into a mixed ability classroom, with other boys and girls gifted in mathematics, and taught daily by a team of two teachers: a gifted intervention specialist and a 4thgrade math teacher. Students will be encouraged to think critically and apply strategies to real-world situations.  Students will be exposed to differentiated instruction including curriculum compacting and problem based learning.

For service in reading/writing, giftedstudents are clustered in a mixed ability classroom and see the gifted intervention specialist during “Blue Streak Time” each day to receive enhanced instruction and/or enrichment in reading/writing.  This time will include opportunities for students to think critically and write critically about what they read while strengthening their vocabulary.
