Lake Local focuses on communication internally and externally through one of its four 2012-2013 strategic objectives. The district provides a variety of ways for its staff, students, parents and community members to stay informed and involved at Lake:
Blue Streak News – The Blue Streak News is produced five times per year, and is sent to all homes within the district as well as posted on the district website. This publication includes information on the district as a whole, academics, arts, athletics, operations, and the five district buildings – Uniontown Elementary, Hartville Elementary, Lake Elementary, Lake Middle School and Lake High School. The District also partners with local youth sports organizations and provides information on their activities and registrations.
District Website – The district website contains the latest news releases and up-to-date information on what is happening in the district as well as links to all buildings, athletics, the arts, food service, transportation and Lake TV. Students and parents can log on to connect with teachers and student grades and assignments, as well as individual teacher web pages containing classroom information and on-line learning sites. The website also hosts a Financial Dashboard, which gives financial and other performance information about the district. This dashboard is updated annually as soon as information from the Ohio Department of Education is available.
Lake News – The website contains district news releases as well as media “Hotsheets” that are sent to area media sources every Tuesday. The Director of Quality and Communication works with area media to provide information, photographs, news articles and visits throughout the year.
Lake TV – With programming focusing on Academics, Arts and Athletics, Lake TV hosts a talk show on each of these three areas as well as a variety of school events including music, sports contests and special programs that are presented throughout the year. Programming can be found on Time Warner Channel 11. Please click on the Lake TV tab on this website for a video library of past performances and Lake TV shows.
School Calendar – A district-wide school calendar as well as individual building and organization calendars are posted and updated on the web site. A daily events calendar is also available. Lake is now using Tandem for Schools to manage all school calendars and events. Tandem is available on the home page of the website.
Surveys – Lake Local conducts many surveys a year to listen to the needs of our students, parents, staff and community. While most of these surveys are conducted internally through links to “Survey Central”, the district does occasionally use outside groups to conduct surveys in the community.
Crisis Communications – The district has a comprehensive crisis communication plan in place for the district as well as individual buildings that includes weather, threats, accidents, violence, illness and crisis counseling should the need arise.
Building Newsletters – Individual building newsletters are available on the website, as well as the opportunity to subscribe via e-mail to receive the newsletters of choice.

These cards are located throughout the district and contain our web‐address so that you can send in your comments. You can also click on CaresCards on the home page of the website. Communication Groups - Key Communicators, Lunch Break, PROS and Superintendent's Roundtable
Lake listens as well as communicates! Each month, the District hosts a series of rountable discussions to talk about what's happening in and around the district. Key Communicators meets with the same members that represent classified, certified and administrative staff monthly at 7:30 am, Lunch Break also consists of members from all workgroups but attendees change each month. The Superintendent's Roundtable will start this year, with members from the community meeting to discuss important topics and issues affecting Lake Local Schools. In 2012, the PROS group was started (Presidents and Representatives of Support Organizations), which brings together leaders of our booster clubs, PTOs and other supporting organizations to coordinate fund-raising efforts and communication.
