Lake Local students about to embark on an exciting “AROUND THE WORLD” EXPERIENCE!
Parents, would you like your student to “virtually” travel to Mexico, Germany, France, Japan, and China at the start of this New Year 2012?   Would you like your student to be able to “WOW” you with a greeting or a song in Japanese, Chinese, German, French, or Spanish?  Well, Lake Local School District is offering an amazing trip AROUND THE WORLD via its after-school Enrichment Program!  

Elementary students at Uniontown and Hartville Elementary Schools are invited to travel twice a week from the comfort of their own schools from JANUARY 23, 2012 to March 5, 2012!  Mrs. Starcher will lead your student on an exploratory journey through 5 countries.  The class will explore the location, geography, topography, population, flag, and cultural symbols of each country and discuss the similarities/differences that the countries might share with the USA.  Your student will also learn in each country-specific language the alphabet, the colors, how to count, how to introduce, greet, and take leave, and how to follow basic commands in the target languages.  Students will be excited to learn because this trip includes lots of hands-on activities, the opportunity to try foods from around the world, and the chance to create country-specific crafts!   Additionally, since Mrs. Starcher used to travel AROUND THE WORLD  as an international sales manager before she went back to school to become a teacher, she has some really cool stories, authentic artifacts and pictures from each country, and some crazy but fun songs and dances that will help us learn each language!

Classes will be twice a week from 3:15 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.  The cost of the program is $90 for the twelve sessions.  Please contact the Uniontown Elementary Office or Hartville Elementary Office for a registration form.
