Should an emergency arise that prevents your presence, please notify Mr. Tobin, Mr. Harold or Dr. Stoll, so that your diploma may be removed from the stacks on the stage.
Seniors should be at the Civic Center promptly at 2:15 p.m. with their caps and gowns and lined up in graduating order by 2:45 p.m.
Graduation Practice
Attendance at the graduation ceremony practice is a requirement of the Lake Local Board of Education. The practice session will be held at Canton Memorial Civic Center on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m.
Lake High School policy is that ALL SENIORS must be at practice to participate in the graduation ceremony. Students will be permitted to drive their own vehicles to practice and should park in the Civic Center parking deck. If you are unable to secure transportation to practice, please see Mr. Tobin. We will arrange transportation for you.
Graduation Pictures
Paramount Photography will take individual pictures of students receiving their diplomas. The studio will send money envelopes home to seniors. Envelopes should be returned to the Lake High School Main Office by Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Finished photographs will be mailed directly to the address on the money envelope.
Caps, Gowns, Tassels
Caps and gowns will be issued to seniors on Friday, June 1, 2012 after the graduation ceremony practice.
Attire
In a formal commencement ceremony, all participants are dressed in caps and gowns. To be dressed properly for graduation, please note the following: Caps are always worn flat on the top of the head with the point of the cap centered in the middle of the forehead. Gowns are to be placed on hangers to eliminate most wrinkles. Flowers, decorative pins, or other adornments are NOT worn on gowns. Girls should not wear the collars that come with the gowns. It is suggested that girls wear white or beige shoes and dresses shorter than the gown length of mid-calf. Dress shirts with a tie are preferred dress for the boys. Tennis shoes are not appropriate for anyone.
Audience
In order for any graduation ceremony to be completely successful, the audience, too, must play a particular role in the proceedings. CLAPPING-WHISTLING-SHOUTING....or any other such loud or abusive behavior is considered inappropriate at a commencement ceremony. Dignity and decorum are the order of the day.
Please do your part to set a good example for everyone. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Demeanor
It is important for seniors to remember that, although they have finished with the course work at Lake High School, they are still members of the student body and are expected to comply with all school rules and regulations. Your commencement is one of the most important memories you will have during your life. Please make it one of which you, your parents, and your friends will be extremely proud. In our culture, high school graduation is a “rite of passage.” It is a very important ceremony.
Tickets are not issued for graduation. Seating is open and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Floor seating is available handicapped or infirmed parents or grandparents.
