Local scholarship applications have begun to arrive in the high school guidance office. Below you will find the name of the scholarship along with the criteria and the deadline date. If there is not a deadline date, we have not received the application yet but will post it as soon as we receive it. Scholarship applications will be available online. As they arrive, they will be posted on the website and an announcement will be made at school also. Should you have any questions, please contact the guidance office at 330-877-4285.
Some items to keep in mind:
If the application requires a recommendation, please use the proper etiquette when you ask someone to write one for you. Start this process early!
Be sure to give teachers, administrators, counselors, job supervisors etc., two weeks notice to complete your recommendation since they would like to do a good job on it, but have many other demands in their workload. Most applications require a transcript. Please request your transcript from the guidance office a few days ahead of when your application is due. Again, early is best! The guidance office requires a minimum of two days for transcripts due to the high volume of requests that come through our office. Late or incomplete applications are not considered. Remember neatness, deadlines and following directions are important. If the application requires 3 recommendations, do not include 4 of them. If the application does not ask for recommendations, do not include them because they will be discarded before the applications are picked up. Dollars for Scholars - Deadline: March 15, 2012
Approximately $22,000.00 in awards are given each year. Range of awards are approximately $350.00 to $1,500.00. Students must provide the completed application, completed teacher recommendation form, current transcript of grades and a photocopy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) of the Free Application for Federal Student Aide (FAFSA) confirming the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number. Parents need to submit the FAFSA early in order to have the SAR back in time to include with this application.

Uniontown Elementary School PTO & Mary A. Myers Scholarships - Deadline: March 12, 2012
Two $1,000.00 scholarships are awarded. Must have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, have attended Uniontown Elementary for at least three years and graduate from Lake High School. An essay, high school transcript and one recommendation are part of the application.

Stark County School Counselors Association Scholarship - Deadline: March 9, 2012
Four $600.00 scholarships are awarded. Student must be a graduating senior of the Class of 2012 and have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA. A one paragraph essay is required along with the application. Application should be mailed directly to one of the addresses on the application. Student must be going into the field of education or a related field of education.

Hartville Elementary Scholarship - Deadline: March 12, 2012
Two $1,000.00 scholarships are being awarded. Applicants must have attended Hartville Elementary School for three years, demonstrate financial need, and possess qualities of good citizenship in their school and community. An essay, three recommendations and a high school transcript are part of the application and you must also participate in an interview process with the scholarship committee.

Tiny Tots Preschool, Inc. (of North Canton) Scholarship - Deadline: April 30, 2012
One $300.00 scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors of Stark County. Applicants must have attended Tiny Tots and an essay is required in a question/answer format. Application essays should be mailed directly to the address on the application. No transcripts or letters of reference are necessay.

Lions Club (Hartville/Uniontown) - Deadline: April 5, 2012
Three $400.00 scholarship will be awarded and renewable for four years, for a total scholarship of $1,600.00. An essay is part of the application.

Selection is based on the contribution students have made organizing the yearly blood drive. Selection is made by the Lake High School Health Technologies teacher. There is not an application.
Howard R. Miller, Sr. Memorial Scholarship
One $500.00 scholarship is given to a National Honor Society member. Selection is made by the NHS advisor on the basis of service, scholarship, leadership and character. There is not an application.
Quail Hollow - Deadline: April 15, 2012
One $1,000.00 or two $500.00 scholarships will be awarded. This scholarship was designed to aid graduating seniors who have given of their time and talent to Quail Hollow State Park. A letter of nomination and a recommendation by a QHVA member or QHSP staff person plus an essay from the student telling about his involvement at Quail Hollow are required in the application. Students should mail their completed application to the address given on the application.

Drs. Bernard & Eimer Scholarship - Deadline: March 29, 2012
Three $1,000.00 scholarships are awarded to present or former patients. Student may be from any high school. An essay and school activities are used to judge the entries. Mail completed requairements directly to their office.

Uniontown High School Alumni Scholarship - Deadline: April 6, 2012
Two $1,000.00 scholarships are awarded. The applicant must have a parent, grandparent or great grandparent who attended Uniontown High School or a parent who is a graduate of Lake High School. Applicant must have attended Uniontown Elementary School for a minimum of three years and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5. Application includes recommendtion, activities, transcript and personal interview, if called.

Rick Porter Memorial Scholarship - Deadline: April 13, 2012
One $300.00 scholarship may be awarded to one or more Lake High School tennis team members. Selection is based on character, leadership, sportsmanship and commitment. Application should include two essays, a copy of resume and official transcript.

AultCare Team Spirit Scholarship - Deadline: February 15, 2012 (extended for Lake students)
One $2,000.00 non-renewable scholarship is awarded to one senior in every Stark County School who demonstrates the attributes of a team player. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, community service through school/community activities, partcipated in a school sports program, demonstrated leadership and financial need. The application is available at www.aultcare.com. The Aultcare Team Spirit Scholarship link is located on their home page. Students need to go to the section called "2012 AultCareTeam Spirit Award Application". Students will need to download the application and submit all required documents by the deadline date mentioned above.

College Club of Canton Scholarship Loan - Deadline: March 1, 2012
Each year the College Club of Canton, Ohio extends to at least one deserving female student a loan in the amount of $6,000.00 which is given over a period of four (4) years. The money is loaned in the amount of $1,500.00 per year. The is an interest free loan if paid within 4 years after graduation. See details on application.

Lake Choral Boosters' Scholarship - Deadline: April 9, 2012
One $750.00 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior choir member. A committee of community members select the students based upon grades, involvement in the choral program, musical accomplishments, and other school and community activities. A 200 word essay is part of the application.

Lake Band Booster Scholarship - Deadline: April 4, 2012
Three $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded. Applicants must have participated in a band program with at least 4 years of high school concert band and including 4 years of full participation in the marching band. Jimmy Tawney Band Scholarship
One $500.00 scholarship is given to a senior band student who consistently demonstrates unconditional patience, compassion, and a genuine concern for others. Selection is made by the band director. There is not an application.

The Basug Medical Career Scholarship - Deadline: March 22, 2012
Student must plan on pursuring a career in the medical field. Selection will be based on academic achievement, community service and financial need.
