Lake High School Student Earns GenYes Certification
Lake High School Senior and Career Tech GenYes student Barrett Osmundson interviewed for and was awarded his GenYes certification Nov. 7, 2017.   He is the first student during the 2017-2018 school year to achieve this at Lake, and among a select group of students from across the nation to achieve this.
GenYes is a program that prepares powerful teams of Student Technology Leaders (STLs) in K-12 schools to work with educators, peers and IT staff to integrate technology in ways that improve student learning.

To become certified, Barrett completed a number of tasks including technology integration, break-fix computer issues, and much more. These issues involved assisting Lake staff and students, working on various teams involving other GenYes students, and helping at least 10 different teachers.

He also interviewed with a panel of GenYes employees, including CEO Dennis Harper, to become certified.  Barrett scored a perfect score on his rubric to receive his certification.

GenYes certification demonstrates that a student has successfully applied technology skills they have developed both in the classroom and by helping their school effectively integrate technology.

"Barrett is one of the hardest working and helpful students I have ever had the pleasure to work with," said GenYes instructor Frank Pilato
