Lake Team Earns First Place in STEM Career Day Competition
Lake High School’s entry in the 2018 Goodyear STEM Career Day Rube Goldberg Competition took first place recently.
The Lake High School team consisted of Nathaniel Clevinger, Owen Coldsnow, Allison Cunningham, Nathaniel Green, Brett Hewitt, Jordan Hopkins, Noah Lamadanie, Bella Marshall, Nolan Mason, Thaddeus Ochs, Nick Paschke, Jaron Smith, Aidan Stalker, Tate Testa, Alex Tieche, Carson Wolfe, Alex Xuan, and Trey Zeiger.
Thanks to the generous help of the Zachary Doherty Memorial Scholarship Fund, this year’s success was possible.  Lake’s Rube Goldberg machine entry used a sports theme, knowing Goodyear has a strong presence in both sports and the STEM world.
The final goal for Lake’s machine was to allow a miniature blimp to carry a load of miniature tires.  Despite some struggles, the machine functioned well during the competition and the team was victorious, earning $2,500 for STEM education, a trip to Goodyear Headquarters, and other prizes.
Lake’s team is ready to return for this annual competition next year!   Watch a video of the Lake team’s winning entry in this competition at:
