Daily Announcements: November 3, 2017
Attention all girls interested in being a Wrestling Mat Stat
this year: We will have our first meeting on Wednesday, November 8th at 3:00pm
in Room 503. If you have any questions, see Mr. Mattingly or Mr. Burgner.
It’s Red Ribbon Week: Say No to Drugs and encourage your family and friends to be drug free.
Cocaine, both in powder form and as crack, is an extremely addictive
stimulant. An addict usually loses
interest in many areas of life, including school, sports, family, and
friends. Use of cocaine can lead to
feelings of paranoia and anxiety. The
physical effect of cocaine on the receptors in the brain reduce the ability to
feel pleasure, which in turn causes the dependency on the drug.
Alcohol is no safer than drugs. Alcohol impairs judgment and leads to memory
lapses. It can lead to blackouts. It distorts vision, shortens coordination,
and in addition to the brain, can damage every other organ in the body.
Did you get a red ribbon and sign the pledge to be Drug Free? The members of Teen Institute would like to give you a candy treat on Friday during the lunch periods if you are wearing a Red Ribbon. Wearing the red ribbon is a pledge that you are going to be drug free. Don’t let drug users trick you…Drugs are not a treat. Drug addiction ruins lives. The BEST TREAT you can give yourself and your family is to stay away from drugs. Be smart – don’t start. So wear your red ribbons on Friday and look for the Teen Institute members that are passing out treats at lunch. “Drug Free is the best way to be!”
NEW COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY: If you need Community Service hours, come to the Main Office and see Mrs. Caponi. Hartville’s upcoming annual Christmas event, “Evening in the Village”, is in need of approximately 4 students to help.
Other Community Service Opportunities include Fish Pantry
and Lions Club. See Mrs. Caponi in the Main Office.
The Junior Class is organizing an Adopt-A-Soldier fundraiser
at Lake High School. Donation tables will be set up in the Commons during the
lunch periods. Change and hygiene items alike will be accepted. There will be a
meeting to collect and pack the shipments on Wednesday, November 8th in Ms.
Teel's room, Room 113, directly after school for anyone interested.
