Congratulations to the Speech and Debate Team for a
tremendous showing Saturday at the District Tournament at Jackson Middle School
on Saturday. Four members of the team earned their place at the Ohio state
tournament, which will take place on March 2 and 3 at Sylvania High School.
Junior Grace Weisel will be competing at the state tournament for the second
straight year in Program Oral Interpretation. Junior Emma Heakin will be competing
in Dramatic Interpretation in just her first year in the category. Freshman
Caleb Adams went 4-0 in Lincoln Douglas Debate to earn his spot in the state
tournament, placing third in the district. Senior Juliana Fierro went 3-1 in
Lincoln-Douglas Debate, placing fifth in the district and earning her spot in
the state tournament. Jayne Yerrick also fought hard for a spot in
Lincoln-Douglas Debate but came up just short with a very difficult draw.
Please wish Grace, Emma, Caleb, and Juliana luck as they travel to Sylvania
March 2 and 3 to compete for state titles in their categories! Great job team!
