Owl Pellet Dissection!

We dissected owl pellets for our Habitats Unit. The students were able to identify various bones and reconstruct parts of the animals that were eaten by the owls. What a great learning experience!

Ronald McDonald House Charities Visit

We did it!

Filled.JPG

We filled our pop tab container, approximately 250,000 pop tabs! WOW! Ronald McDonald House Charities came out to talk with the students about their hard work and they were able to witness the filling of the container.

We are having another container donated and built by Mr. Kevin Pierson. If we can fill this container, we could hit 500,000 pop tabs! Please keep saving them and sending them in to us, we appreciate every one.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful break and found time to enjoy the time off from school. Our classroom is back in full motion and on Thursday, January 13 we will end the first half of the school year (the students do not have school January 14). Report cards will be coming home soon after that. Parent-teacher conferences will be held the beginning of February. More on that coming soon also!

Mr. Adam DeMonte is my student teacher and he will be with us until the end of February. He was in our classroom for a short while in the fall and now is with us full time. He will be teaching and helping me for the next month & half. He is doing a great job and loves the students and they love him. Welcome Mr. DeMonte!

We have started our multiplication facts. The class took their first timed test on Friday which covered 0, & 1's. Everyone passed with flying colors. The 2's will be during the week of January 10. Please encourage your child to study and practice because they do get much more difficult for them to learn as the weeks go by.

Forces and Motion

We have recently had some great visitors in Third Grade. We had Mr. Dailey came in and spoke with us about making polymer. He showed the class how it is made and showed a power point of his work. He works for Goodyear in the race car division.

Mr. Gullata (a race car driver) came and told us how he uses force and motion when he races cars. We were lucky enough to sit in his car and look at all the instruments inside it.

Pop Top Update!

We have been working hard on our collection. We have had support from the community as well. Individuals have been dropping off Pop tops for us and now our container is over 35 inches tall. Third Grade Teachers are very proud of the efforts of the students!
