She wants to talk with Kelley, but is ignored by everyone. Where is Kelley? What happened to the princess and the 'Evil One"? And will Danielle ever be able to trust anyone ever again?

Her mom is a hoarder. Lucy puts on a good front of living a normal life, but returns home one day to find her mother has died and is buried under a pile of trash. She doesn't want Child Protective Services to find out, so she schemes to keep her mother's death a secret. A little bit of romance gives Lucy hope for some kind of "normal" life. Read this to leaarn about Lucy's secret and her relationaship with Josh, the school hottie.

The Hand You're Dealt by Paul Volponi

"Huck" has a teacher, Mr. Abbott, who intimidates and humiliates his students. Mr. Abbott took a "trophy" from Huck's dad as he lay dying in the hospital. This "trophy" is the grand prize in an annual poker tournament sponsored by the church. Huck is obsessed with winning the "trophy" back.​ With the help of Father Dineros, a plan is devised wich will allow Huck to enter the contest. Will he succeed in winning and humiliating Mr. Abbott? If he does win, what will his next move be? There is some poker terminology and some profanity n this book.

Carolyn Maull was just fifteen years old when the Ku Klux Klan planted a bomb inside the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, killing four of her friends. Here is a primary source telling of the horrors and trials of growing up in the sounth during the era of the Jim Crow Laws. The riots, marches and racial tensions are explored through the eyes of a teenage girl in this very personal account  of her life during the time of The Civil Rights Movement.

Adios, Nirvana by Conrad Wesselhoeft

Jonathan has trouble keeping a grip on reality since the death of his twin brother. Facing being unable to graduate, he is given an ultimatum from the principal. He must complete all assignments until the end of the school year and write the memoir of a very cantankerous World War II veteran who is living in hospice care. IIn addition, he must also perform some lame song by the band Pinkie Toe at his graduation ceremony.​With a great deal of help from his "thicks", great friends, and his guitar, Ruby, and various other "characters", Jonathan is able to face his own pain and put the World War II veteran's pain into words. There are many references to guitar chords and style of playing as well as writing and poets. This is a great read!

Now Cassie's voice haunts Lia as her eting disorder takes control, threatening to make her a cold "wintergirl" forever.​

Stealing Heaven by Elizabeth Scott

Told from the point of view of Danielle, the main character, this is a story of a mother/daughter relationship in which the mother uses her daughter to set up robberies. Danielle knows this is wrong, but has no one to depend on except her mother. It is only when they settle into a little town named Heaven that Danielle sees the reality of her life and opens herself to new relationships. This book is about believing in who you are and having the courage to be that person.​

someday this pain will be useful to you by Peter Cameron

James is ready to graduate from high school and go on to college, which is not what he wants to do. He is somewhat of a loner and isolates himself from just about everyone except his grandmother. This coming of age story is very much like "The Catcher in the Rye".​
