Learn those facts!

Students have set individual goals for learning their multiplication facts.  Once they reach their goal, they get to add a scoop of ice cream to their cone on our class bulletin board.  3 scoops = ice cream from the cafeteria!

Please help your child study their multiplication facts at least 3 times a week.

Happy 40th Birthday, Mrs. Swope!

Mrs. Swope celebrated her 40th birthday over the weekend, so we decided to celebrate!  Students wore black and we had a cookies as a birthday treat after lunch.

This picture is the students wearing black in honor of Mrs. Swope's birthday.

Mr. Monte was taking the pictures for us and he had all of the students look "really old" so here is their best attempt!

Upcoming Bond Issue Information #2

Some additional information about the May 3 Bond Issue:

1.       Additional classrooms in the high school will provide more space for all grade levels to move into better equipped buildings.

Building a new high school building will provide our middle school with larger and more up-to-date classrooms and science labs.  It will also free up a grade level from Uniontown, and the new PreK-2 Lake Elementary.  Grades 3-5 will move to the current middle school, which will also provide more space. The new high school building will also provide additional opportunities to serve our community.  It will be adjacent to our existing complex, with updated learning space for students, staff and community members.
2.       The new high school building will be for instruction.

Our current competition gym and performing arts hall will stay where they are.  We would not build a new varsity gym or hall in the new building.  While details are not finalized at this point, there will most likely be additional music and auxiliary gym space.

Upcoming Bond Issue Information #1

Below is some information about the upcoming Bond Issue on May 3, 2011

Did you know…

People receive information in three ways:
·         85% of people receive only a 3 second message
·         10% of people will listen for 30 seconds
·         Only 5% of people will give you 3 minutes to talk
Did you know…
Why Lake has placed a bond issue on the ballot at this time?
·         Because the state will pay 65% of the cost, it builds opportunities for the district to do more for its students.
·         The project will be more than a high school.  Every student and staff member will benefit.
·         The project solves serious overcrowding that Lake is currently experiencing.  The district has added more than 400 students since 2000.
·         It is an opportunity to unlock state funds that may or may not be available in the future due to the current state of budgets in education.
·         It is an opportunity for economic development for our area.
·         It is a common sense solution to the many issues that Lake has with maintenance costs, crowding and inappropriate learning spaces.
