Gum-Chewing Research Resources

Please note: to access these materials, you will need to be on the LMC web site and will probably need to log into the databases. You must use LMC internet databases for research on Monday. No Google or Bing research will be permitted on Monday.

Key resources include:

Student Resources in Context: Use the search term "gum chewing" to pull up both encylopedia-type articles as well as current news stories about gum. All of these may provide useful information for your persausive essay.

SIRS Discovered: To log in, remember to add "ms" to the login you've used for Student Resources in Context. Use the search term "gum chewing" to again, pull up a number of resources related to this topic. The very first article is from the Los Angeles Times and provides answers to a number of questions surrounding gum. You'll find some very interesting facts here.

Student Research Center: You may use this, but to make your search more efficient and less frustrating, go to "Advanced Search" and then use the phrase "gum chewing" as a "subject term." So it should read: "Find gum chewing in SU Subject Terms" if you fill this in properly. You'll find some good information here as well.

Be sure to take good notes. Later this week you will begin to finalize your three key points for your essay and note which information will be the best for supporting your position as to whether seventh grade teachers should allow gum-chewing next year or not.

March 02
Thank you, Mrs. Bledsoe!

Thanks 1 and Thanks 2
From our class to you!
We wish we were there
in order to say
what a delicious
cake you made!
The Cat in the Hat
may know lots about that,
But of your cake,
Not a crumb went to waste.
We put the cake to use
to celebrate the birthday
of Dr. Seuss.
Dr. Seuss may be old,
but his heart was made of gold.
So with Yertle and the Lorax,
the Sneetches and the Who's,
we want to send you
a great big
THANK YOU!!!!
