Career Tech

The Stark Career Compact is a cooperative effort of Jackson Local, Lake Local, North Canton City (Hoover), and Plain Local (Glen Oak) School Districts. This Compact was formed to give students of these districts the opportunity to attend technical/career classes offered in four districts.

The selection process for each program is a competitive one, and requires an application from the student. Students are selected for the programs based on their application and an interview with the instructor. A school counselor from Lake will assist you in the application process and answer any questions that you may have about the programs.

Career Based Intervention (CBI)

Tom McBride
We believe all students have the ability to learn, to establish a career plan, and to carryout their career path to gain success in their lives. Career Based Intervention Programs are designed to assist students who possess barriers to career and academic success to establish a career path by using worked based learning experiences and gaining competencies to achieve a successful path to career options and post secondary training.
CBI is based on establishing key principles of higher expectations, studying the common curriculum of the school, and providing authentic learning opportunities for at risk students. Career Based Intervention is a one or two year program designed to introduce the student to the work force. Students will learn dynamics of job-search, employability factors, on-the-job relations, and job-oriented bookkeeping skills. Students will be expected to work part-time or full-time at a job site with a portion of the school day structured for such activity.

Marketing & Business Management

Do you enjoy being a leader, organizing people, planning activities, and talking? Do you like to work with numbers or ideas? Do you enjoy carrying through with an idea and seeing the end product? Do you want to see what it is like to own and run your own business?

This may be your career path!

This program is designed to provide a basic understanding of the essential elements of marketing and management. The course will introduce the student to the fundamental marketing and management functions including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling from a historical and contemporary perspective. The program is designed with a skills based approach and focuses on: communication (oral, written, non-verbal, and listening), problem solving, teamwork, decision making, conflict resolution, critical analysis and ethical reasoning. Students will be introduced to work related situations that will help foster the management skills necessary for a successful future.

Frank Pilato

In this blended learning class, students will develop and refine their information technology skills, as well as research, presentation, mentoring, project development, and leadership skils.  Participants will apply these skills by collaborating with teachers, and assisting them with technology integration.  Students will also assist peers in troubleshooting technology issues through managing a student-led help desk.

Selection of class members will be based on teacher recommendation and student-written applications.

Students will have the opportunity to learn articulated and CCP credit.
