USDA APPROVES FREE MEALS FOR ALL STUDENTS

School Lunch

The United States Department of Agriculture has extended its “Summer Service” food program through the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.  Because of this extension, all Lake Local students will continue to receive FREE lunches through the end of the school year.

Per the USDA, this free service only applies to complete meals.  Individual meals will be charged accordingly.  For example, if a student chooses to only get a milk he/she will be charged .50 cents.

It is important that Free and Reduced Applications are still completed and submitted by our families. All information on the applications is confidential. If your child qualifies for free meals, they also qualify for a waiver of their school fees, if you consent to release the free lunch status to the secretary who handles fee waivers at your student’s building.  In addition, our school district receives certain state and federal money based on the number of students that qualify for free or reduced-price meals.  Applications can be completed any time during the school year.

You may download a hard copy to fill out at https://www.lakelocal.org/Content2/lunch-menus or go to www.payschoolscentral.com to fill out an application on line.

Lunches are also available free for those enrolled in our Lake Virtual Academy program.  You still have to register each week to pick up lunches the following Monday.  Please go to http://bit.ly/lakelunches to register for lunch pick up.
